The Recorder
I am overwhelmingly overwhelmed to see this day after being privileged to be at the helm of affairs of this local government area in the last 730 days.
This exalted office was where my biological father served in the lower cadre and retired successfully. And by God’s grace, I returned as his son to serve at the highest level. What a great positive contradiction? May Allah’s name be praised.
I assumed this office with a positive mindset to add value to the development of our beloved local government. I can say with all sense of humility and modesty that we have reasonably made our contributions. We are confident history will be kind to us ultimately.
In 730 days, we were able to grade nine roads and opened a virgin one. We embarked on empowerment programmes by giving monthly stipend of 30, 000 naira and 100, 000 naira to 50 beneficiaries for 23 months.
In addition, we influenced the construction of two boreholes, donated school uniforms and books to pupils of Ayegba Primary School, Idah.
We initiated and completed 34 lock – up shops named after the late Ata Igala, Dr.Aliyu Obaje and Sefinat Ododo lock- up shops at Idah Zonal Hospital Junction and Dr Steven Makoji Achema Handball Stadium. I had the privilege of inauguratiing them today.
Every administration at all levels usually have its high and low moments,. In my case, I took both with equal minds thereby holding no grudges against anyone.
I must confess, I enjoyed excellent relationships with all my management staff. Should I be asked? If I have another opportunity will I retain them? I will gladly answer in the affirmative.
However, whatever have a beginning as it is said, must surely have an end. I have personally come to the end of this phase of my life. In any case, this end signals the beginning of another hopefully beautiful era where there could be crossing of our paths again. When that happens, we shall joyfully work together for the sake of humanity.
I therefore wish to thank my vice chairman who stood by me like the rock of gilbraltar. May Allah SWT reward you.
To my SLG, may your next level be brighter. And for my intellectual engine room as far as attaining good governance is concerned, Rotn Amaje Agono, I will eternally remain grateful. You were always there for me. I won’t take it for granted.
I also express my heartfelt gratitude to my Chief Of Staff, Mr Sylvester Ojogbane for providing all political arsenals for the stabilisation of my government. May this office serve as a political springboard to a greater height for you.
To my team of Supervisors, I thank you and wish you the best of your future political career.
To my councillors, I appreciate the maximum support I enjoyed from all of you. Thank you and thank you.
My speech will be incomplete.if I fail to appreciate my soul mate, my prayer warrior, my amiable and beautiful lovely wife for her patience, tolerance and accommodating heart all through the period. I pray almighty Allah’s best wishes for you as you continue to perfectly handle the home front.
And to all staff of Idah local government, I sincerely love you all for the maximum support you gave me. May your future be better than what you can ever imagine.
I love you all as I take a bow from this exalted office as the Executive Chairman going into a new political world with a positive mind for a better future.
By the inherent constitutional powers confered on me, all political appointees under my leadership are hereby dissolved.
Thank you.
