For Governor Seyi Makinde of oyo state and presidential candidate of Allied People’s Movement, APM, the provision of basic healthcare facilities both at primary, secondary and tertiary level has been the priority of the present administration in the state in the last seven years.
This in his desire to ensure adequate attention to all segment of the society in the area of health-care provision capable of delivering his mandate in a conducive environment.

A healthy nation is a wealthy nation, hence the quest of providing quality healthcare in Oyo state cannot be overlooked.
With a well designed template geared towards providing a universal health care to the people of the state , the governor embarked on massive rehabilitation through upgrading of primary healthcare centres in the 33 local government areas of the state, including the general hospitals established many decades ago during the regional government desiring urgent attention.
Having laid down a grand plan towards ensuring a health free society, the engagement of professionals with indepth capacity, experience and extensive knowledge towards ensuring a sick free environment at all levels was inculcated.
This was enabled by the massive recruitment of health professionals at all levels from nurses, pharmacists, doctors and other professionals to the state health facilities.
The engagement also involved prompt payment of specialized salary structure of CONHESS and CONMESS to encourage competition, adequate attention, dedication to duties and discourage patronage of shylcok private health facilities in the state.
This was followed up with the provision of adequate and quality drugs and the establishment of revolving funds for the acquisition of drugs and hospital equipments across the health facilities in the state .
To complement the two levels of health provision of both basic and secondary level , efforts to galvanize the tertiary health provision led to the establishment and construction of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, LAUTECH in Oyo town to replace the previous one in oshogbo jointly owned by the old Oyo and Osun State.
This brought to an end the age long controversy surrounding the ownership of the Teaching Hospital or joint ownership of the hospital, that had dominated the length and breadth of the state.
In his wisdom, Governor Seyi Makinde also established the Iseyin campus of the state university to pave way to other facilities in the area and by extension neighboring communities that formed part of the state .
The concerted efforts by the Makinde led administration brought health care attention nearer to the people having attained universal health care provision to the people of the state.
With the success story recorded in oyo state in the last few years, no doubt when elected in January as Nigeria’s President, the provision of health facilities in the country will be seamles and inline with international standards by Governor Seyi Makinde, the Presidential candidate of Allied People’s Movement, APM.
The worsening health situations and inadequate attention in the country will become a thing of the past, and cornerstone of his administration going forward.
