We bow in total submission to the will of Almighty Allah as we mourn the passing of a great son of Igala land, a titan of industry and a father to many – Late Chief Alhaji Muhammed Akpa Idakwoji.
His departure leaves a void that will be difficult to fill, not only in his immediate family and in Etutekpe, but across Dekina Local Government, Kogi State, and the entire Nigerian business community where his name stood for integrity.
ROOT OF A NOBLE SON
Late Chief Alhaji Muhammed Akpa Idakwoji was a proud son of Etutekpe in Iyale Ward, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. He never forgot his roots. Though his business empire took him across the nation, his heart remained firmly anchored in his community. He carried the name of his people with dignity, honour, and uncommon pride, and remained a respected Chief and custodian of our values till his last breath.
AN EMPIRE BUILT ON HONESTY AND HARD WORK
Chief Idakwoji was the embodiment of the honest entrepreneur. As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of MAMAD OIL LTD, he built a business conglomerate that became a household name for reliability.
His astuteness was evident in the diversity and success of his interests:

Through MAMAD OIL LTD, he became a major player in the downstream sector, ensuring supply and service with a reputation for transparency that is rare in the industry.
PHARMACEUTICAL SALE AND DISTRIBUTION:
He understood that health is wealth, and ventured into the distribution of pharmaceuticals, bringing essential medicines and Treatment closer to the people.
PRODUCE MARKETING AND GENERAL
CONTRACTING:
As a produce merchant and general contractor, he empowered farmers, created jobs, and executed projects with a level of diligence that earned him the trust of both government and private clients.
He was not just a businessman; he was a builder of men and of livelihoods. He believed that profit must have a human face.
A PHILANTHROPIST WITH A HEART OF GOLD
If his business showed his astuteness, his life showed his humanity. Chief Idakwoji was passionately committed to the well-being of the people around him.
He gave quietly but impactfully. He paid school fees for children who were not his own, settled medical bills for the sick, Treated People on a free medical note,supported widows, empowered youths with capital to start their own businesses, and was always present at community development efforts in Etutekpe,Iyale, Dekina and the state at large.
To many, he was not just Alhaji; he was “Baba” – a dependable shoulder, a wise counselor, a man whose door was never shut to those in need. His philanthropy was not for show; it was an act of Iman and service to humanity.
A FAMILY PATRIARCH
At home, he was a devoted family man. A loving husband, a caring father, and a doting grandfather. He built a family anchored on the principles he lived by – honesty, hard work, fear of Allah, and love for one another. He lived to see his children grow into responsible adults and was blessed with grandchildren, a testament to a fulfilled life.
He led his family with wisdom, firmness, and immense love, and his legacy lives on in them.
HIS LEGACY ENDURES
Chief Alhaji Muhammed Akpa Idakwoji has finished his race. What he leaves behind is more than companies and properties; he leaves behind a legacy of integrity in business, compassion in leadership, and unwavering love for his people.
He has shown us that it is possible to be successful without being corrupt, to be wealthy without being arrogant, and to be a Chief without losing touch with the common man.
Though we mourn, we also celebrate a life well spent in the service of Allah and humanity.
We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus, and grants the entire Idakwoji family, the people of Etutekpe, Iyale Ward, and Dekina Local Government the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
