By Sheik Ibrahim Jibrin (SIJ).

I did not wake up one morning driven by ambition. I was moved by my conviction.

For years, I have walked the streets of Dekina and Bassa. I have sat with farmers worried about access to markets, with traders battling rising costs, with youths armed with degrees but disarmed by unemployment.

I have listened to mothers who pray daily for opportunities for their children, and to elders who long to see our constituency regain its pride of place.

These conversations changed me. They stirred something more profound than politics. They awakened responsibility.

As a businessman, I understand what it takes to create value, manage resources, and build systems that work. Business teaches discipline, accountability, and results. It teaches that promises must translate into performance.

I have built enterprises from the ground up, navigated challenges, created jobs, and contributed to local economic growth. That experience matters because governance, at its core, is about managing people, priorities, and public trust.

As a philanthropist, I have never believed that leadership begins in office. It begins with compassion. Over the years, I have supported educational initiatives, youth empowerment efforts, and community-driven projects not for applause, but because I believe we rise by lifting others. I have seen firsthand how a scholarship can change a family’s story, how a small grant can revive a struggling business, and how collective action can transform entire communities.

But philanthropy alone is not enough. We need policy. We need representation. We need a stronger voice at the National Assembly.

Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency deserves more than routine representation; we deserve strategic advocacy. We deserve a representative who understands federal processes and can attract meaningful projects: from improved infrastructure and better road networks to agricultural support, youth development programmes, and small business funding. We deserve someone who will not merely occupy a seat but will actively influence decisions that shape our future.

I am running because our youths deserve structured opportunities, not seasonal empowerment. I am running because our women deserve access to capital and markets that will multiply their productivity. I am running because our farmers deserve modern tools, storage facilities, and federal attention that will unlock the true potential of our land. I am running because our constituency deserves deliberate, measurable progress.

This is not about rhetoric. It is about results.

My vision is simple and practical:

Economic Empowerment: Facilitate access to federal grants, vocational training, and business development initiatives that create sustainable livelihoods.

Youth and Education: Expand scholarship programs, digital skills training, and partnerships that prepare our young people for a competitive world.

Infrastructure Advocacy: Lobby aggressively for road rehabilitation, electrification projects, and water schemes that directly impact daily life.

Transparent Representation: Establish regular town halls and open communication channels to ensure accountability and feedback.

Leadership must be accessible. It must be present. It must listen.

I am not presenting myself as perfect. I am presenting myself as prepared: prepared by experience, grounded in community values, and guided by integrity. I understand the challenges because I have lived among you, worked with you, and grown with you.

The future of Dekina/Bassa is not a distant dream. It is a responsibility we must claim together.

I am running because I believe in our people. I believe in our resilience. I believe in our capacity to build a constituency that is economically vibrant, socially inclusive, and politically respected.

This journey is not mine alone. It belongs to every youth seeking opportunity, every trader seeking support, every farmer seeking growth, and every family seeking hope.

Together, we can move from promise to progress.

Together, we can shape a better tomorrow.
