The irony of life is always manifested in the administration of Kogi state, particularly in all segments.
Since the inception of former governor Yahaya Bello and the current administration of Ahmed Usman ododo, the scarcity of water had persisted in Lokoja the state capital, talk of more of 21 local government headquarters.
The issue of electricity even though a national discourse is worsening in Kogi state, with some local government headquarters not seeing electricity for consecutive three years , not minding a commission in place .
The just yesterday donation of 100 Million to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to purchase the next presidential form in 2027 was a misplaced priority, uncalled for , unsolicited, needless and a waste of scarce resources by the Kogi State government hidden under the guise of Kogi state youths.
If truly Kogi youths have contributed towards purchasing forms for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, why not use the resources to provide social services and security to the people of Kogi State.
With 100Million , Kogi state government or the youths can provide not less than 20 standard boreholes in some rural areas of Kogi state, or strategic places in Lokoja, the state capital.
The media hype of lip service of the old Lokoja water works providing portable water to residents of the old city has been marred in controversy, along with other social amenities.
What is wrong with carrying out the repairs of the greater Lokoja water works and expanding it , even if it means the only achievements of the present administration under Governor Usman Ododo.
Playing politics with people’s life in the area of Education, Health, Employment and other social security is far from the idea of buying re-election form for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
No wonder President Bola Ahmed Tinubu challenged state governors during the breaking of fast the same day a whopping 100Million was donated for his re-election in 2027 to strive to develop the rural areas.
It is painful and disappointing with the new FAAC allocations to states , Kogi cannot be proud of rural rejuvenation, through roads construction and reconstruction, provision of portable water at the state capital and other rural areas , water among many others.
The introduction of payment for consumption of Lokoja water was far away from the free for all reticulation during the previous administrations, yet Lokoja , local governments in Kogi are only lucky to have private boreholes water for consumption or that of Federal Lawmakers and personal individuals.
We don’t need to buy form for Mr President for 2027 election against the lay down procedures, as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu popularity is beyond Kogi local politics and strategy to continue to remain at the corridor of power .
