The Federal road in Kogi state is under threat , as the threat to cut off the commercial city of Anyigba in Dekina Local Government Area is obvious, with no attention from the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing and Federal Roads Maintainance Agency FERMA.
A survey on the road leading from Ajaokuta, the steel city to Anyigba in Kogi east, the deep gully on Ochadamu slope towards Ogbakpedo hill, a village in Ofu local government area of Kogi state, that is now a nightmare as the place is gradually been rendered impassable.
The gully been maintained from time time by FERMA for many years is now cut off, half into the express way, precluding vehicles and creating a swerve that could cause not only a head on collision of vehicles, but multiple accidents.
The scary gully about 1000 metres deep down had claimed several lives many years back before some remedial works was embarked.
The remedial works an annual event was worsened by heavy rain and lack of permanent solutions to the dilapidated area by the authority, that had turned to death trap and zone.
The only saving grace is a sign made with a drum to enable vehicular movements through diversions, more dangerous to motorists and other road users.
A community leader in Ochadamu, Mohammed Sani and some transporters had appealed to the Federal Government to prevail on the Ministry of Works to commence a major work on the roads before it’s cut off.
