Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda today praised the Chairman of Zango Local Government, Hon. Babangida Zango, for becoming the first to fully implement the state’s Community Development Programme.
The Governor made this commendation during the empowerment programme in Zango, featuring distribution of agricultural inputs and business support materials.
Governor Radda, in his address, stated “When we assumed office, we introduced this inclusive governance approach to ensure that support reaches those who truly need it.”
“Instead of selecting beneficiaries based on political affiliations, we decided to remove politics from poverty alleviation initiatives. The people in rural areas know their challenges best, and they also know those who are most deserving of assistance,” the Governor added.
The Governor emphasized the programme’s transparency and fairness, “Today, the Chairman of Zango Local Government has set a good example by using this system to support women, artisans, and small business owners while also investing in mosques and schools. He did not impose names on the list—he trusted the committees to select the most deserving beneficiaries.”
During the event, which included distribution of agricultural inputs and business support materials, Governor Radda urged broader adoption of the program. “I call on Members of the House of Representatives and the State Assembly to support and expand this program to empower more communities,” he said.
The Governor also announced progress on local infrastructure development, stating, “The Kawari Road Project, which was requested by the Honorable Member representing Zango and Baure, has been included in the State Assembly budget for this year. I have already directed the Chief of Staff to engage the Katsina State Roads and Rural Development Authority to ensure the project is executed on time.”
In furtherance to this, Governor Radda received the defection of a seasoned politician and prominent PDP leader in Zango local government.
Governor Radda remarked that the defector has every reason to have returned to APC a long time ago. Adding that he was a key figure in the political movement of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
“He has always been a respected political force in Zango and Katsina State politics,” noted Governor Radda.
Addressing the upcoming local government elections scheduled for February 15, 2025, Governor Radda called for active participation, “This is not just any government; this is your government—a government that delivers results and fulfills its promises.”
“I urge you to continue supporting this administration and to remain united for the progress of our state,” the Governor concluded.
Expressing the residents of Zango appreciation, Hon. Tasi’u Musa Maigari, Member Katsina State House of Assembly, explained that the people in Zango LG made a collective decision to support Governor Radda because of his commitment to good governance and the development of the state.
“The Governor has initiated and executed numerous developmental projects, not only in Zango but across Katsina State,” Hon. Tasi’u noted.
The lawmaker cited the expansion of Zango Hospital, upgrading several Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) to better serve underprivileged in areas such as Kafur, Charanchi, and Zango.
