In a heartwarming gesture, the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has congratulated Princess Edna D.D Azura on her inauguration as the 16th National President of the National Council of Women Society (NCWS). This milestone event took place on January 19, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria. The Minister is thrilled to see a woman of Princess Edna’s calibre and experience take the reins of the NCWS, and she’s confident that her wealth of experience and expertise will drive the organization towards greater heights.
The NCWS has been a beacon of hope for women’s rights, education, and economic empowerment in Nigeria, and the Minister commends the organization for its unwavering commitment to these causes. With Princess Edna at the helm, the Minister is optimistic that the NCWS will continue to thrive and make a positive impact on the lives of Nigerian women. Prior to her election, Mrs Azura served as the first Assistant National Secretary of the Council and hails from Adamawa State, succeeding the late Haj. Lami Adamu Lau.

Additionally, the Initiative for Women’s Accelerated Development in Africa (INWOAD) has joined in congratulating the newly inaugurated 16th National President of the NCWS, urging her to push for women’s empowerment and development.
