The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has conferred on the Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims, an award of qualitative representation as an icon of humanitarian services and community development in recognition of his sterling leadership.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy House Leader, Comrade Muhammed Nasiru reveals that the NUJ signified Rep. Halims’ recent recognition as a global ambassador of good governance by the African Mirror International and other endeavours as a clear indication that his commitment to good governance is not unnoticed.
The Kogi State Chapter Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Ademu Seidu Haruna, commended the achievements of the Deputy Leader in the period under review with particular reference to his training and empowerment of over five thousand Constituents in different trades, vocation and small scale businesses.
“For the majority of your constituents to say you are the best, Igala people to rate you as the most performing and Kogites to be all proud of you – Rt. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, we in the fourth estate of the realm have no choice than to take that as a true reflection of your performance.” He added.
While reacting to the award, the Deputy House Leader who represents Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State restated his commitment to the best representation of his people, he assured the NUJ of his open partnership with a view to ease the media in fulfilling its social responsibility of holding leaders to account.
“I hold newsmen in very high esteem and my relationship with journalists, even here in the National Assembly and beyond is excellent. I have a family relationship with my Media Aide and he has greatly leveraged on that to boost my engagement with both the print and online media practitioners which the NUJ embodies.
Concluding, Rep. Halims expressed his utmost pleasure in receiving the highly researched award and pledge to keep providing all necessary support the union will require in its effort to advance good governance through non partisan engagement of citizens.”
