Worried by the challenges of Nigerians especially the vulnerable women and Children, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim Monday distributed food items to over 300 women in Nasarawa State.

The food items distributed included Bags of Rice, Cartons of Spaghetti and Macaroni, cooking oil, tomato paste and seasonings.

Speaking during the distribution in Keffi, Akwanga and Kokona LGAs of the state, the Minister noted that the gesture was part of the Renewed Hope Agenda on food security of the President Bola Tinubu’s government.

According to the Hon. Minister, the gesture was targeted at supporting the women especially now that the year was getting to an end to cushion the effect of the hardship.

Represented by the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Aishatu Rufai-Ibrahim , the minister further disclosed that the federal government under the headship of President Bola Tinubu was aware of the challenges of the citizens, and assured of regular interventions to ease their challenges.

She expressing gratitude to the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule for his continuous support to her since she was appointed into office, the minister who is an indigene of the state, reiterated her commitment to continue to protect the interest of all the residents of the state at the national level.

According her, “This programme is aimed at supporting vulnerable women in the society in order to cushion the effects of the economic challenges. So, we are here to ensure that no one is left behind during this season when the year is drawing to a close.”

“We are distributing food items because that is what most vulnerable women need during this season. We will continue to do everything within our powers to ensure that women are empowered in the country to make them self-reliant.”

On his part, Chairman of Keffi LGA, Idris Ahmed Damagani acknowledged the various intervention by President Bola Tinubu, and the Minister of women Affairs whom he described as the true Daughter of the area for the vulnerable residents of the area, stating that the food items and others would no doubt improve the livelihood of the people.

Damagani urged the beneficiaries not to sale the palliatives, but make good use of them in their respective homes in order to justify the efforts of the Federal government and the Minister.

Earlier, one of the beneficiaries in the Kokona LGA, Matina Emmanuel lamented how she and her family had been passing through financial challenges as a result of the ill health of her husband, a retired police officer who suddenly developed stroke after retiring from the force.

She, however thanked the Minister for the food items given to her and other vulnerable people in the area, assuring that the items will be put into good use for the benefits of their families, neighbors and well-wishers.
