100 GBV Survivors Gain Support from}p} Governor’s Wife
Katsina State Government has intensified its commitment to combating gender-based violence (GBV),
This would be actualized through a comprehensive campaign led by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza Yar’adua.
The state also commemorated the 2024 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
Speaking at a town hall meeting with stakeholders at the Katsina Government House banquet hall, Commissioner Yar’adua emphasized the critical need for sustained collective action in addressing GBV across the state.
She highlighted the ministry’s recent initiatives, including the establishment of survivor support systems and the implementation of vocational training programs for women, girls, and boys.
The Commissioner also praised Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s unwavering support for the campaign, which aims to protect the rights and well-being of women and girls throughout Katsina State.
She particularly acknowledged the contribution of the Governor’s wife, Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko Radda, who has personally supported 100 GBV survivors.
“Gender-based violence is not merely a human rights violation; it represents a significant barrier to our state’s progress,” Commissioner Yar’adua stated. “No society can achieve its full potential when half of its population lives in fear, faces abuse, or experiences inequality.”
The town hall meeting featured comprehensive panel discussions with representatives from key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Justice, Hisbah, NAPTIN, Civil Societies, and the Girl Child Department, enlightening the broader community about GBV-related issues and prevention strategies.
