Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has disclosed that the state Geographical Information Service Agency is the most cost-effective in the entire country.
Governor Radda made this known during the signing ceremony for the first batch of recertified Certificates of Occupancy at the Government House, Katsina.
The Governor highlighted that Katsina state has established the first geographical information service agency of its kind, featuring advanced certification technologies like QR-Code which Abuja that started years back are yet to achieve.
Governor Radda continued that Katsina Geographical Information Service (KATGIS) was equipped with software and hardware equipment costing less than one billion naira. These include, 100 desktop and laptop computers, high precision scanners, printers, survey equipment, office workstations and other furniture.
The Governor further emphasized that the figure is the most cost-effective compared to other states in the country where this project would have cost billions.
The Governor attributed this successful initiative to the exceptional leadership of the State Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Dr. Faisal Umar Kaita.
He added that KATGIS project demonstrates Katsina State’s commitment to innovative governance, technological advancement and strategic resource management.
Justifying the project cost-effectiveness, Dr. Faisal noted that the Katsina State Government relied on local expertise and manpower to develop a much more effective system.
He added that proposals of N8 billion to N12 billion were received, while some other states spent up to N10 Billion to set the agency.
Dr. Faisal remarked that the advancement will allow quicker verification of C of Os online, through a dedicated webpage. Thus, eliminating the tedious manual process that requires visiting land offices.
This approach positions Katsina State as a leader in technological innovation and resource management within public service delivery.
