The Kogi State College Education Ankpa, Alumni Association “Class of 98 ” has advocated for a functional teacher education as panacea to it’s backwardness and decadence in Nigeria.
The revelation was made during the celebration of the silver jubilee of the Class of 98 and a paper presented by the chairman of the occasion, Professor Armstrong Aduku Idachaba held at Community Hall, Art and Culture Abuja on Friday.
The two day event was used to rally round the Alumni Association and galvanized both internal and external supports to the many decades teacher based institution.
According to the convener of the program, Sam Attah, the maiden program was geared towards forging a new template towards the physical and academic development of the school .
The event attracted paper presentation by Professor Armstrong Aduku Idachaba and the President of the body, Dr Enefu Samuel Mohammed presided over the pre -silver lecture as part of the program.
Other programs of the event included health walk and courtesy visits by members of the Class of 98 alumnus of Kogi State College of Education Ankpa KSCOE.
The climax of the event was an award to various distinguish Nigerians who had contributed one way or the other to the development of their motherland and Nigeria.
Among those honored included Professor Armstrong Aduku Idachaba, Former Director General, National Broadcasting Commission NBC, Hajia Salamatu Baiwa Umar-Eluma, Former National Woman Leader , All Progressives Congress APC, Rep Leke Abejide , Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, Former Minister of State, FCT, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, SDP Governorshio Candidate in Kogi state, Dr Jummai Ahmadu, a Director in FCT,HRH Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Ahmadu, Ejeh Ankpa, Anthony Salifu, and Princess Iganya Agene.
Others are Chief Adejoh Monday Emmanuel, Rev Fr Bosco Aleh and Rev Sister Vivian Mbagwu.
