The honour of distinguished Alumnus Award bestowed on pioneer Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Abdulrasheed Na’Allah by University of Ilorin to commemorate its 50th Anniversary has been described as apt in recognition of his exceptional achievements in education sector.
This is contained in a Congratulatory Message by Ilorin Emirate Staff at Kwara State University, under the leadership of Professor Ibrahim Laro signed by its General Secretary, Dr Abdullahi Bakare to celebrate the recipient.
According to the statement, Professor Na’Allah’s illustrious career and unrelenting excellence have not only brought pride to his alma mater but also his illustrious community.
It emphasized that the scholar has consistently embodied his community’s cultural and traditional identity through his academic and professional life.
They noted that his character as a dual cultural ambassador was recognized as he was promptly asked back home to serve as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University.
The Ilorin Emirate Staff maintained that Professor Na’Allah represented his native culture abroad and returned to integrate valuable aspects of foreign culture and experiences into his homeland as the first Vice Chancellor of the institution.
They pointed out that KWASU was the first University in Nigeria conceived as a ” University for Community development” being a slogan that has emphasized its local impact alongside global standards it sets till date.
The Ilorin Emirate Staff elucidated that among many other firsts, KWASU was the first in Nigeria to commence programmes in Aeronautics and Astronautics and within a few years of its inception, expanded academic programmes, faculties, and infrastructure, focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation, and ICT.
Meanwhile, Vice-Chairman, Professor Shehu Salau and the Public Relations Officer who also doubles as the Director of the Alumni, Kwara State University, Malete, Mr Abdulrasaq Sanni presented a frame as a token of celebration to the celebrated Icon, Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah.
