The Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives and Member representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has described the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON as an enigmatic political icon.
The Federal Lawmaker revealed this in a birthday felicitation message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Comrade Muhammed Nasiru Adejoh to commemorate the former Governor’s 50th birthday.
The former Governor, fondly called the White Lion was first sworn in as an Executive Governor of Kogi State in January, 2016 and in a short while, rose to become one of Nigeria’s most influential political figures.
According to the statement, Alhaji Yahaya Bello used most of his time in office to not just advance the political scope of his people but expanded his New Direction vision to every nook and cranny of Kogi State through the rejuvenation of numerous political leaders which has made him an enigmatic political icon.
Former Governor Bello’s political trajectory remains a shining example of courage, resilience and commitment to ideas as he is not just a leader in his own right but a doyen in Nigeria politics.
The Deputy House Leader added that his leadership while in office as a Governor and after leaving office has greatly influenced Kogi’s political landscape, stabilised governance and birthed relative peace among party men and women thereby making him an elder statesman as he so deserves.
While wishing the celebrant God’s grace and more years of impactful existence on earth, Rep. Halims commended the current Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his efforts in upholding the former Governor’s legacies adding that the invaluable contribution of all former Governors of Kogi State must be collectively preserved for the good of all Kogites.
