The Federal Lawmaker representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State constituency, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, has empowered about three hundred people across his constituency with vocational skills and start-up capital.
Rep. Halims who doubles as the Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives noted that the vocational training is a deliberate effort to checkmate unemployment caused by the unavailability of enough white-collar jobs, which are in short supply all over the country.
He appealed to those who were given start-up capital that the money is for them to have the funds to set up and should not be spent on pleasure and temporary desire activities.
Speaking at the grand finale held at Ankpa on Thursday, the Deputy House Leader, Rt. Hon. Halims who was ably represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Okeme Emmanuel, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the training and empowerment for their own self-reliance and employability on larger platform.
The lawmaker also advised youths and graduates to embrace vocational skills and be empowered in the face of economic realities in the country.
The beneficiaries, most of whom were trained in hairdressing, facials, make-up, Gele tying, and event decorations thanked the lawmaker for supporting the less privileged in the society and urged other political officeholders to emulate the kind gesture.
The Deputy Leader assured his constituents and Nigerians at large of a better country through the renewed hope initiative of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, adding that the Federal Government isn’t oblivious of the current hardships as he expressed optimism that the end will be to the overall benefit of all citizens.
