The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the development of the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, he made this pronouncement during a courtesy visit by the institution’s management team led by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Umar Adam Katsayal.
In the meeting held at Katsina Government House yesterday, Governor Radda promised to encourage the company handling the university’s construction to undertake additional projects within the institution.
He commended the university management for their commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent policy in both employment and student admissions.
“Our administration recognizes the pivotal role of specialized education in driving economic growth and technological advancement,” stated Governor Radda.
“We are committed to providing the necessary support to ensure the University of Transportation, Daura delivers on its mandate effectively.”
The Governor also acknowledged the efforts of the Minister of Transportation, Sen. Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, in facilitating the swift establishment of the university, emphasizing the importance of such institutions in Nigeria’s educational landscape.
The pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor Katsayal, in his address, provided a comprehensive progress report on the institution’s academic activities.
He revealed that the university has successfully admitted approximately 600 students across 14 academic programmes.
The Vice-Chancellor also announced ongoing preparations for the 2024/2025 admission exercise and the upcoming matriculation ceremony for the inaugural set of students.
Expressing gratitude for the state government’s support, Professor Katsayal thanked Governor Radda for the donation of a coaster bus to the university and the promise of an ambulance.
He congratulated the Governor on his first year in office and extended condolences on behalf of the university community for the recent passing of Hajiya Dada Musa Yar’adua.
Governor Radda, however, reiterated the administration’s dedication to fostering educational excellence and technological innovation in Katsina State.
