Our attention have been drawn to the press statement issued by Kogi State Government through the commissioner of information, Hon. Kingsley Fawno who within 48 hours contradicted himself on the subject matters.
1. Kogi State government issued a statement on the 23rd of August, 2024 same day of the attack alleging SDP and Muri supporters of attacking APC supporters at the Supreme Court even though it was clear via various pictorial and video evidently proving reversed is the case, Commissioner for Solid minerals, Bashiru Gegu and his Thugs were behind the attack.
2. Usman Ododo waited for almost 72 hours after the attack to issue a statement condemning it is bellow expectation of someone who sworn an oath to protect and defend Democracy and Kogi citizens.
3. Kogi State Government knows those behind the attack, their face are visible in the vidoes all over the internet, His commissioner For Solid Minerals, Bashir Gegu should be held responsible to produce his boys.
Consistency and honesty in government communication have always been ongoing problems in Kogi state, it’s imperative for Hon. Kingsley Fanwo to Uphold truthfulness and reliability in his statement to public, it’s crucial for accountability and transparency in governance to preserve public trust and uphold justice and fairness.
Recall similar occurrence between Former governor Yahaya Bello and the Nigeria Army at a check point on Lokoja – Abuja highway; only for Yahaya Bello to rebuffed him in less than two hours after Fanwo Statement accusing Army chiefs of attempting assassination on FGYB. I think he should be taking for a psychiatric examination and should be reminded that Election period is long over, court season is over, it’s now time for governance and not baseless propaganda.
We as Muri/Sam campaign council 2023, Kogi Gobernotrial election want to state it categorically that even if Muri refused to act on this unwarranted assassination attempt on him and our supporters, we will take it up and ensures justice for our people who sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack.
