Hajiya Habibat Oyiza, the former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, now the accountant General of kogi state is overdue for an arrest for alleged gross misconduct and misappropriation of Kogi State funds.
The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has urged the Kogi State Government to provide details accounts of their transactions, including those of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the leadership of Senator Sadiqu Ohiare, Barrister Deedat, Yahaya Bello and Usman ODODO but refused to cooperate with the anti-craft agency.
It is concerning that the commission has faced resistance in obtaining cooperation, possibly due to the confidence of the state’s leaders to follow the footsteps of their grand master Bello who is still at Large for similar offense.
As concerned citizens of Kogi State, we call upon the EFCC and ICPC to take decisive action against corruption in Kogi state as a matter of urgency. Despite significant funds of over 15 Billions went into the state in July, 2024 reports indicate that contracted projects remain stagnant and nothing is being done but just a means to further looting our treasury with so much impunity.
Petitions from concerned Kogi citizens have been submitted to the ICPC, EFCC, and the Inspector General of Police. Failure to comply with ICPC’s requests could result in further legal actions. And we want the state government to know that our eyes are everywhere with the details of their transactions and diversion of the state funds in the guise of Projects.
We urge ICPC and EFCC to address these issues promptly to prevent continued injustices and grand looting in Kogi State.
