In continuation of his efforts towards bringing succour to the Internally Displaced Persons in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims earlier today received in audience, a delegation of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) at his office at the National Assembly for an official briefing.
While receiving the delegation, Rep. Halims reiterated that he is personally pained by the situation the victims find themselves adding that nobody prays for a disaster but when it occurs, it must be accepted with good faith.
The Federal Lawmaker added that the news of the relief materials has since raised high hopes in the constituency and urged the NEMA officials to ensure that the materials are delivered to the affected persons without any interference stressing that there must be no room for any unethical conduct in the process.
On his part, the Head, NEMA Abuja Operations office, Mr. Justin Uwazuruonye while debriefing Rep. Halims about the delivery procedures commended Rep. Halims for his proactiveness towards the plight of his people adding that such an act is highly unprecedented as he called on other public officials to emulate same.
