Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State is celebrating a significant milestone in the state’s education system. After a year of strategic initiatives, Katsina is seeing major improvements in school buildings, teacher quality, and access to education for all children.

Recognizing the pivotal role of education in shaping the future of Katsina’s youth, Governor Radda reaffirms his unwavering commitment to revolutionizing the education system. Drawing from his own experience as a teacher, he emphasizes the critical importance of providing quality education as a foundation for local and global competitiveness.

These initiatives are designed to ensure every child in Katsina has the opportunity to receive a high-quality education.

Governor Radda’s administration has undertaken comprehensive measures to address the challenges facing the education sector in Katsina State. A baseline survey of all schools revealed the urgent need for infrastructural improvements, prompting the allocation of significant resources towards infrastructure development.

Under the auspices of the AGILE project, Governor Radda’s administration has mobilized 5.6 billion Naira for the construction of 75 new secondary schools, expanding access to quality education for students across the state. Additionally, direct grants totaling 6 billion Naira have been disbursed to 115 schools for infrastructure enhancement projects.

In a bid to ensure equitable access to education, the administration has procured equipment worth 1.8 billion Naira through the BESDA program and allocated 2.2 billion Naira for rehabilitation, construction, and furniture supply under the UBEC program. Furthermore, the government has shouldered the burden of examination fees, allocating 1.4 billion Naira to cover fees for WAEC, NECO, NBAIS, and NABTEB examinations in 2023.

Underscoring the importance of quality teaching, Governor Radda’s administration has recruited over 7,000 teachers permanently and provided training to over 12,000 educators in the past year alone. These efforts reflect a commitment to nurturing talent and ensuring the delivery of high-quality education to Katsina’s youth.

Looking ahead, Governor Radda announces plans to launch a new Education Service Delivery Charter, aimed at further transforming the education sector by fostering innovation, inclusivity, and excellence in teaching and learning.

As Governor Radda’s visionary leadership continues to drive progress in the education sector, Katsina State stands poised to unlock the full potential of its youth and build a brighter future for generations to come.
