Rep. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State has reiterated his stewardship’s commitment to the improvement of Science Secondary Education in his constituency noting that no amount of investment is too big for educational development.

Rep Halims who doubles as the Deputy Majority Leader of the 10th House of Representatives made this known on Friday while hosting an astute academician and avid disciplinarian, Dr. S. M. Onoja on a courtesy visit to him in his office at the National Assembly adding that it is a collective responsibility to ensure that there is even access to a quality and affordable Science education for the younger generation.

According to him, “It is an honour to have you in my office. Your erstwhile contribution to the development of Education in Nigeria is topnotch. Your years of service in the numerous schools you taught, served as Principal as well as period as Kogi State Commissioner for Education has positive impacts in Education that I particularly tap from at intervals.

“You have groomed many Leaders and Teachers. You are also contributing to the growth of education as a senior citizen and whatever you think is necessary for us to do, I want to assure you that I am available and committed to it at any time,” Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims said.

The visitor, Chief Dr. Sylvester Onoja applauded Rep. Halims’ long-standing reputation for supporting Education throughout his public service career, he commended him for past and present efforts to rapidly make Science Education appealing to young students through the massive distribution of scientific equipment to many Senior Secondary Schools across Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Local Government Areas in the 9th Assembly.

Earlier in his presentation, Dr. S. M. Onoja took cognizance to Nigeria’s derailing support for Secondary Education and decried the inability of successive Federal Governments to establish a regulatory body for secondary schools in Nigeria as against the existence of a Universal Basic Education Board(UBEC) and numerous tertiary education regulatory bodies for the other two tier of formal education.

Dr. Onoja, a former Principal of two noble unity schools, the Kings College Lagos and Federal Government College Ugwolawo further appealed to Rep. Halims to collaborate with his colleagues in the National Assembly in order to work on a legal framework that will see to the establishment of a proper regulation agency for Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
