I have some pertinent issues and questions for Senator Abba Moro over his overzealous, mischievous and busy-body Senate outing over the issue setting up of local governments caretakers in Benue State:

1. As a Benue senator from Zone C,why did he not raise a motion against former governor Samuel Ortom when Ortom constituted local government caretakers under his tenure as Governor of Benue State?? Was Senator Abba Moro not in the Senate??

2. Why did Senator Abba Moro not raise any senate motion against former Governor Samuel Ortom when Ortom removed from office most of the local government chairmen who disagreed and refused to join him in moving to the PDP ??

3. It is mischievous for Senator Abba Moro to rise up to defend PDP chairmen who were indicted and invited by the Benue State House of Assembly to come and explain how the money/finances in their custody was used, but who all rather ran away, only to go and file a case at the National Industrial Court to get injunction against the Benue State House of Assembly and the Benue State Government!!

4. Senator Abba Moro should know that the Nigerian constitution which provides and guarantees the creation of local government as autonomous tier of government, the same constitution also empowers State Houses of Assembly to determine issues of creation, composition, tenure, functions and control of the activities of local governments in Nigeria. To this end,the call by Senator Abba Moro in the senate over the issue of local government caretakers ship appears to be maliciously hasty, poorly thought about and does not represent the wishes of the good people of Benue State.

5. By the way, as far as I am concerned, what I believe is that the processes that brought those so called PDP chairmen into office was not democratic but a selection of persons by the then ruling PDP government who asked to govern local government areas strictly for the interest of PDP.

6. Above all,the PDP chairmen are not dissolved. They are suspended!

FIRS waives penalties, interests on outstanding tax liabilities Relief has come the way of taxpayers and businesses as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has granted them full waiver on accumulated penalties and interests for outstanding tax liabilities. Chairman of the revenue service, Zacch Adedeji, made the decision known in a notice personally signed by him and made available to newsmen through his Special Adviser on Media, Dare Adekanmbi. The agency imposes penalties and interests for failure by companies to fulfil their tax obligation as and when due as stipulated in extant tax laws. Adedeji said the forgiveness on piled up penalties and interests was “in recognition of the challenges that many taxpayers have faced in settling their outstanding tax liabilities.” According to him, the concession also syncs with the commitment of President Bola Tinubu to support businesses to flourish. He explained that full payment of outstanding original tax liabilities without interest on or before the 31st of December this year must be done by companies wishing to benefit from the peculiar concession. “Taxpayers are advised that the waiver of interest is subject to the full settlement of outstanding principal on or before the 31 December, 2023. “Please note that the full penalty and interest shall be reinstated after the expiration of this one-off concession window where the outstanding undisputed liability remains fully or partially unpaid. “FIRS appreciates all taxpayers who have been diligent in complying with their tax obligations as and when due, while seeking their continued support and cooperation for a more responsive and robust tax system,” Adedeji said.
