The University of Management and Technology, Cotonou , Benin Republic has confered on former Kogi Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris with a honorary doctorate degree in Humanitarian and Leadership Award.
The award was presented to the former governor at Grand Ibro Hotel , Abuja on Tuesday.
Presenting the award , the Co-ordinator of Women’s Effect Initiative International, Dr Arewa Abiola Abimbola maintained that he was honored 13 years after leaving office for his genuine humanitarian and leadership instincts, when he ruled the state between 2003-2012 for rare nine years .
The women group listed many achievements of the Former Kogi Governor to include provision of boreholes and portable water for Lokoja the state capital, construction of roads , building of Hospitals and provision of houses and infrastructures in the state.
She said the decision to honor the former Kogi Governor was that many years after his exit his achievements was still adored round Kogi state, hence he was been remembered for his good works.
Responding, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris advised leaders at all levels to remain selfless to their subjects at all levels.
“For me and at all times, I ponder for what I can do for the society, rather than what the society will do for me, stating that leaders should be people oriented at all levels.”
She appreciated the role of the women group for facilitating the presentation of the honorary doctorate award, saying this will go along way to continue to spur him to do more to the society.
The Women’s Effect Initiative International
Women for Women Initiative International also used the opportunity to present an International humanitarian Icon Award to the former governor,Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.
