The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Sunday graced the prestigious Georgian Cup final at the ‘2023 Kaduna International Polo Tournament’.
The event took place at the Ahmadu Yakubu Polo Club situated in the iconic Murtala Mohammed Square Kaduna.
The tournament attracted distinguished first class emirs and chiefs, top business executives and polo enthusiasts.
The Georgian Cup, donated by First Bank in 1918, is the oldest and most respected Polo trophy in West Africa.
Currently, the Georgian Cup sits as the premier and most prestigious polo trophy in the continent, and one of the longest-running sports sponsorships in the world.
Governor Radda’s presence at the event exemplified the Katsina State Government’s support for sports.
The Katsina Chief Executive, who has never missed the Georgian Cup’s final matches for over three decades of his watching the tournament, assisted the Emir of Katsina, Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, who is also the Life Chairman of the Nigeria Polo Association, to present the gold trophy of the tournament to the eventual winners, Kangimi Resorts captained by Adamu Atta.
