The attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Director General of State Services, the Inspector General of Police, other hierarchy of Security Chiefs, and well-meaning Nigerians to the alarming situation involving the Kogi State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Tosin Ajayi, and the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Onuoha Bethrand.
It has come to our knowledge that Mr. Ajayi Tosin, and CP Onuoha Bethrand who are supposed to maintain professionalism in their respective duties, had become nothing more than a puppet in the hands of Governor Yahaya Director, New Media , Muri Sam Campaign Council , Isaiah Davies Ijele said.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, 25th October to media men.
According to a reliable source, Governor Yahaya Bello allegedly instructed Mr. Ajayi Tosin, and CP Onuoha Bethrand to arrest prominent leaders and stakeholders.
Some of the names forwarded to them as collated from the Local Government Chairmen includes; H.E Sheiqh Ibrahim, Hon. Ahmed Attah, Hon. Hassan Yakubu Enape, Hon. John Aduga, Hon. Ahmed Muhammed Sani, along with other key members of the Party. Moreover, it has been alleged that both the State Director of DSS, Mr. Tony Ajayi and CP Onuoha Bethrand have developed a cozy relationship with the Governor, in preparation for the off-cycle election in Kogi State scheduled for November 11th, 2023.
In response to these distressing developments, the SDP Campaign Council held a meeting this morning in Lokoja, and have passed a vote of No Confidence on Mr. Tosin Ajayi, Commissioner of Police, Onuoha Bethrand and called for their immediate transfer from Kogi State. We firmly believe in the principles of freedom of association and choice in Nigeria. Governor Yahaya Bello should focus on promoting his failed and unpopular candidate instead of resorting to violence and intimidation against the opposition.
It is disheartening to recall the recent incident of October 22nd, 2023, wherein Governor Yahaya Bello’s convoy clashed with brave Nigerian soldiers on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway.
This incident exemplifies the Governor’s propensity for violence and disregard for the rule of law.
At this critical juncture, we find ourselves helpless and implore President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and save us from the lawlessness exhibited by Governor Yahaya Bello. Our only desire is to have a peaceful, transparent, free, and fair election. This is not too much to ask for.
