Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda today in Rimi Local Government flagged off the disbursement of scholarship funds to students of Higher Institutions of Learning and Empowerment Support to Women amounting to 56 Million Naira.
The Scholarship Scheme powered by Hon Usman Murtala Banye, Member representing Rimi/Charanci/Batagarawa Federal Constituency was held at Rimi local Government Secretariat.
The governor at the event said the recent employment of about seven thousand teachers and the graduation of one thousand four hundred and fifty six personnel of the security watch Corp were among other policies aimed at addressing shortage of teachers and security challenges in the state.
This he said was in addition to government resolve to sponsor forty qualified students who graduated from public secondary schools to pursue degree programmes on medicine in Egypt .
On his part the federal lawmaker Architect Usman Murtala Banye said the scholarship support would be extended to cover students pursuing masters degree and those on post graduate level from the three local government areas.
He promised to present to the Federal House of Representatives yearnings and aspirations of people of the three local government areas of his constituency.
Earlier the Chairman Screening. Committe Dr.Aminu Yusuf Dikko said the committee was very careful in identifying genuine and qualified 3,040 out of over five thousand three hundred and five applicants from the three local governments.
Others who spoke include the state Commissioner for Women Affairs Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa and the Chairman,Rimi Local Government Alhaji Nu’uman Imam who also appreciated the legislator for the kind gesture.
