The National Caretaker Committee of Igala Cultural Developmen Association, ICDA has called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to urgently Wade in on the security challenges in the Eastern Senatorial district of kogi State, to ensure that the forthcoming Governorship Election is peaceful, free ,fair and credible.
The Caretaker President of the apex socio Cultural Association, Pastor Immanuel Ameadaji made the remark today in lokoja while reacting to the continuous political violence in Ofu and Dekina Local Government areas of the state , where properties were destroyed and persons wounded.
Pastor Ameadaji said the most painful aspect was that thugs who perpetuate those heinous crimes were walking free in the society, stressing that such was capable of sending the wrong signals that those thugs were above the law and remains untouchable.
He added that if nothing was urgently done to arrest and prosecute those thugs whose names have been mentioned already, ICDA would soon be calling for a declaration of state of emergency and postponement of the election, stressing that it will not stand idle and watch while a few miscreants continue to cause havoc on innocent citizens who wish to exercise their democratic rights.
Pastor Ameadaji called on the security agencies in the state to live above boards and bring those bad eggs to book, especially those ones that have been mentioned to restore confidence in the minds of the people, who are already becoming disillusioned.
He however urged the people to remain calm and law abiding and continue to report any suspicious movement to the security agencies.
