Kogi state government has declared free Education in primary and secondary school with teachers salary for level 13 officer stood at 19,000 in the last seven years.
A primary school teacher who displayed his payment slip for July , 2023 got 19,000 and as at press time , salary for August was not contemplated, few weeks to the end of September.
This was also applicable to local government workers whose percentage salary payment depends on the feelings of the state government.
This is happening in Kogi state as minimum wage approved by the federal government is 30, 000 subject to review upward by Tinubu’s administration.
In the last seven years , no promotions for both primary, secondary and local government workers has been implemented including annual leave and yearly incremental steps.
Kogi state is inundated with dilapidated school structures without instructional materials and motivation for both the academic and non academic staffs.
This is applicable to the tertiary institutions in the state , with advert for the establishment of a new State University in Kabba already out.
The State University in Anyigba, Kabba are grossly underfunded with outsourced lecturers for NUC accreditation among many others.
