The Katsina State Government on Wednesday said it has approved and released over N2.2 billion for the construction of 72 Day Secondary Schools across the State.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda who made the disclosure, said that his government has also given an approval for the construction of new and rehabilitation of existing primary schools across the State, totalling 361.

Radda spoke while briefing newsmen on his first 100 days as Katsina Governor, at the Government House.

He further revealed that his administration will soon establish three new Model Schools across the three senatorial zones of the State, which are Katsina, Daura and Funtua.

“The construction of the model schools will provide opportunity for children of the less privilege to also acquire western education. But we will not be compromising standards. Entry admission into the three schools would strictly be based on merit,” he said.

Governor Radda noted that the two projects would be carried out by the State Government , with the support of international donor agencies.

In a related development, the Katsina State Government is rolling out plans to support vulnerable persons, the less privileged and widows in the State.

Already, 4,019 people have been identified as proposed beneficiaries in Katsina Local Government.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a world class Dialysis Centre at the General Amadi Rimi Orthopedic Hospital in Batagarawa area of the State capital.
