Kogi Lawyers of thoughts and CSO’s in Kogi state has protested to the international Communities offices over the alleged politically killings orchestrated by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state.
The protest on Tuesday took the lawyers to some foreign embassies to include the United Nations, European Union, US Embassy, British Embassy and the ECOWAS secretariat in the nation’s city.
Speaking to newsmen on behalf of the lawyers and CSO’s, Shaibu Enejo Aruwa SAN appealed to the Nigerian President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the international Communities to stop Kogi Governor from the alleged killings of political opponents build up to November governorship election in the state .
He listed the extra judicial killings and arrest of political opponents in recent times to include the burning of PDP Woman Leader in Kogi east, recent killing of Bala Kabiru and the attack on SDP candidate, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka recently in Kogi state personally supervised by the state Governor close to the state capital in Lokoja among many other ones carried out secretly.
He asked the President and the international Communities not to be deceived and distracted from the ongoing probe of Kogi Governor, who had deserted the state , rather than administering the state.
He urged the international Communities to prevail on the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who had cherished genuine democracy over the years to provide enabling environment for the people of Kogi state to exercise their civic rights, without intimidation and threats of killings from Kogi Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said alleged killer squad of Kogi state government is spread across the state with concentration on Kogi east to deplete the voting power and population of the people of the area.
He said on daily basis, new faces and suspicious vehicles are plying the nooks and crannies of Kogi state with uneasy calm and threat of killings to prominent sons and daughters who had refused to support Yahaya Bello’s candidate and his planned third term in Kogi state.
The protests is coming few weeks after some youths mounted the streets of Abuja from the fountain square to Defence Headquarters to alert Nigerians on the ongoing alleged political killings and threat to lives across the state particularly in Kogi east.
The protesting lawyers submitted letters to the embassies to register their dissatisfaction with the ongoing political build up to kill and maim the innocent people in Kogi state.
They however expressed confidence that with the new President and efforts of security agencies without compromise with the state government will address the critical security problems.
