Truth be told, we are in a peculiar situation where you have the SNAKE hidden in your precious CLAY POT but the venomous reptile must be killed. So, what do you do?
Last time it was “the people’s Muri” that was sent back from entering the “lion’s den” and today the signs are already obvious that the skies may not permit the sounds of Akpabana come this Saturday in the very heart of Kogi East town of Anyigba as Admr. Jibrin Oyibe Usman (Rtd.) is billed to be unveiled as Accord Party Gubernatorial Candidate.
The unfortunate scenarios may keep coming on and off in this manner and time will be going only to prevent the people from making a fundamental statement when its time to elect who leads them in the state affairs come November, 2023. These developments are build ups and clear early signs that we may be heading for another era of “tatatata” again instead of casting ballot papers and waiting for results to be counted and winner declared in the ways stipulated by our constitution.
The simple strategy that can be deduced from these developments now is to convert the Kogi East axis to a war zone and if that is achieved, many would not turn up for the election and that will make useless of the numbers and majority strength of the area. But, painfully as it stands today, are those on the ground fighting the “wars of their paymasters” really outsiders or insiders being blinded with immediate benefits? And, how long do they intend to remain in this battalion to keep killing and disrupting the area? And, should there be any counter reaction, would the sponsor(s) not already be achieving their aim(s) even beyond what was bargained?
Now the point is this, connected or not to the political period we are in, this is a sad times for us as a people and it will be a slap if there’s any postponement of Akpabana’s activities scheduled for Saturday as it will simply translate to stopping the two most powerful figures in the governorship race ahead of the November 11 Kogi Guber Election from Kogi East.
This is a very delicate situation. It calls for such strategic measures that must nip this ugly trend in the bud already.
Kogi East must not be a war zone and the people must express their freedom as citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. All stakeholders must rise to the occasion, now.
For those calling for a state of emergency at this point, the arithmetic is simple – do that, give absolute military power to the one who will control you and keep you so till after November. We are in-between Pharaoh and the Red Sea. Strategic moves only can save the situation as it stands. Let’s carefully look ahead in every situation.
If we fail to do anything now, remember it was Muri yesterday, may be Akpabana today and then, you, yes, you tomorrow.
